Gloria Mercado-Fortine
Global Education Solutions, Inc.

As a life-long resident of Santa Clarita, Gloria has been an active member of the community and has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to public service and volunteerism. Currently she is the Chief Executive Officer of Global Education Solutions, Inc., working statewide to train future leaders, transform education, and make schools the best that they can be.

Having lost her mother to cancer, Gloria co-founded the SCV Unit of the American Cancer Society in 1994 and established the Relay for Life, Daffodil Days, and Luminaria events for the Santa Clarita Valley. Gloria holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University, Northridge; Masters of Science Degree, School Administration and Management, Pepperdine University; Masters of Science from LaVerne University in Educational Psychology. She also holds a Masters in Governance from the California School Boards Association. Gloria has also taught as an Adjunct Professor at California State University, Los Angeles, Mission College and College of the Canyons. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, her husband Bruce and their border collie, Lexi.

Gloria has been a Board Member since 2013 and has been an invaluable asset to our organization. We are very fortunate to have her continued guidance, leadership, and expertise.

Michael M. Fisher
Schifirn, Gannon, and Dickey Inc.

Michael has been a citizen of Santa Clarita since 1987 and currently resides in Newhall with his wife Jeannette. Michael graduated from California Lutheran University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and has worked in the insurance industry in various capacities. For the past ten years, he has been an insurance adjuster with Schifirn, Gannon, and Dickey Inc. and is the Western Regional Claims Manager.

Michael came to the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center's Board of Directors through his association with the Santa Clarita lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. For fifteen years, Michael was the chairperson of the Elks Roast Committee and the Elks were able to raise over $1,000,000 for Samuel Dixon Family Health Center during that time. Michael was asked to join the Board of Directors in 2009 by Mr. Ed Bolden and has been a member since.


Dr. David Goldberg, D.D.S.

David moved to the Santa Clarita Valley in 1986. He has raised four kids in the same residence with his wife Debra Lynn. He has been working in this community at Crossroad Dental since 1982; and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Santa Clarita, a member of the Elks, enjoys his motorcycle, and has been on our Board of Directors for ten years. Before moving to Newhall, David received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from California State University Northridge, and a D.D.S. from The University of the Pacific's San Francisco Campus.


Carolina Orozco Hernandez
Dental Assistant

Carolina is the proud mother of two, son Franky and daughter Ashley. She is a Registered Dental Assistant and has worked in the dental field for fourteen years.

Carolina's Journey with Samuel Dixon Family Health Center began at the age of sixteen when she started volunteering in the community of Val Verde. She was hired to supervise a club at our local Val Verde Family Health Center that was sponsored by Zonta International. By the age of eighteen she had achieved her certification as a Medical Assistant and was hired by the organization to work in the Val Verde Health Center. During her time there, she became a Phlebotomist. She was also chosen to represent the organization in Washington DC., where she lobbied in the Senate to receive assistance with teenage pregnancy since that was one of the major focuses during her nine-year employment with the organization. She is proud to have been and will continue to be a part of our ongoing expansion by serving on the Board of Directors for the last several years and hopefully many more to come.


Maria Morales

Maria is a teacher and writer with self-published books "My Graduation" and "Para ti Mujer". Maria is an advocate for reading and gives away copies of her books to order to foster a culture of reading for pleasure. Maria currently works as a high school Spanish teacher in Palmdale, California.


Patricia Ochoa
Public Health Consultant

Patty has over fourteen years of experience in the non-profit sector and in community health planning. Ms. Ochoa graduated from California State University Northridge and has worked as a teacher, non-profit director ,and environmental advocate. More recently, Ms. Ochoa was the Executive Director of Valley Care Community Consortium, a non-profit health and mental planning agency whose mission is to develop plans, programs and policy to improve the health of the San Fernando Valley. Currently, Ms. Ochoa serves as a public health consultant while she raises her three daughters and works towards her Masters of Public Health degree at California State University Northridge.


Anthony McKinnies
Luxury Item Delivery Specialist

Anthony is a long-time resident of Val Verde and a graduate of Saugus High School. He has been serving on our Board of Directors for the past two years. His current occupation is delivering luxury items for a delivery service company. Anthony's passions include helping people in any way that he can and serving his local community.


Paul Lowe

Paul Lowe is a semi-retired journalist -- having worked almost 40 years in the Radio, TV, and Entertainment business. He served more than 25 years with CBS Radio/Internet Group Los Angeles as a Broadcast News Anchor, Producer/Writer (KFWB & KNX All-News Radio; KTWV 94.7 The WAVE Lifestyle Music Radio). His career began working with the late Country Music Legend Buck Owens.

Paul is married to Teresa Lowe, his wonderful wife of seven years. Teresa is an amazing mother and a retired Air Force Veteran and video production editor. The couple have a Travel Blog Business (pre-COVID 19 pandemic).

Paul also serves currently as a volunteer photographer for the military group known as (VME) Veterans in Media and Entertainment with the Hollywood Legion Post 43.

Paul has owned property in Santa Clarita for three decades, loving every moment of the lifestyle here while raising two children. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from Master's University.
